Abstract

To evaluate the effect of different levels of treated wastewater on potato growth indices, an experiment was conducted in the form of split strip plots based on a randomized complete block design with triplications. In this study, treatments at three levels of water requirement (I1 = 100, I2 = 85 and I3 = 70) as the main factor and two water quality (well water = Q1and treated municipal wastewater = Q2) as a secondary factor, were taken. The results of the study of yield and yield components of potato in different irrigation showed that applying 85% of water requirement using wastewater compare with 100% water requirement of the plant, increases water consumption efficiency by 3.5% and saved 443 m3/ha. While 85% of water requirement, no significant reduction of yield and growth indices was observed compared to full irrigation. Yield of treated wastewater was 34.6% higher than the use of well water. Tuber weight and the number of tubers per plant in wastewater treatment were 30.5% and 41% higher than the use of well water, respectively. Application of 85% low irrigation to meet the full water needs of the plant in potato cultivation in the city of Kerman is recommended.
